JAMMU: The Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are likely to be held after a brief extension in President’s rule, if the statement of the Governor Gen. K.V. Krishna Rao (Ret’d), at a high Level meeting last week, is any indication.
The meeting, which was attended by advisors to the Governor, chief secretary, additional chief secretaries, besides commissioners and secretaries, was held at Srinagar to review the overall scenario in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Gen. Rao hoped that “the Assembly elections would be held soon enough to install a democratic government by the middle of August this year.” The state Chief Secretary Ashok Kumar also revealed that “the government had already prepared a blueprint for the purpose.”
