MISSISSIPPI: Dr.Balwant Singh, a Moss Point school teacher, has been elected to the Mississippi Association of Educators Board of Directors to fill the vacancy of Berniece Wells.
Singh plans to work hard to get teachers’ salaries increased to the south eastern average, along with a provision for state health insurance plan for teachers, assistant teachers and other school employees. He believes strongly that the Legislature will give high Priority to these issues in the 1993 session,
A Moss Point school teacher at Kreole Elementary, Singh is actively involved in national, state and local education associations, He is past president of Moss Point Association of Educators and was elected as a delegate to the 199293 Representative Assembly of MAE,
In 1992, he was elected to serve a three-year term on MAE”s Human and Civil Rights Committee. He also is actively involved in the National Association of Educators.
A native of Punjab, India, Singh earned his Ph.D., in elementary education and administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, Singh also holds degrees from Punjab University. (Courtesy of The Mississippi Press 10-9-92)
