AMRITSAR: The Amritsar police Oct.18 registered a case of sedition against several Akali Dal leaders including the former Jathedar or Akal Takht, Harcharan Singh Dilli, for inciting the Sikh gathering at the Akal Takht on the occasion of bhog ceremony of Sukhdev Singh Sukha and Harjinder Singh Jinda against the government. The case has been registered under section 124-A (Sedition) of the Indian (IPO), Bhai Manjit Singh president of the Akali Dal (Manjit) and brother of Bhai Amrik Singh, who was killed in the Operation Bluestar in 1984 was also arrested under the alleged sedition charges. He was arrested from his house and brought to the City kotwali.
Accounting to the police sources more arrests are expected shortly. Bhai Manjit Singh and Jathedar Dilli while participating in the bhog of Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha at Akal Takht on Sunday delivered speeches which, according to police, were seditious in nature. Jathedar Dilli also presented two gold medals back to the parents of Jinda and Sukha on behalf of the two militant outfits Dr.Sohan Singh Panthic Committee and Khalistan Commando Force (Panjwar). He also raised pro Khalistan slogans asking the Sikh gathering to revenge the Chief Minister, Beant Singh, and K.P.S .Gill, the DGP, Punjab in the way the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the late Gen A.C. Vaidya were revenged.
