Takht in the Golden temple complex in memory of Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha who were executed on October 9 for having assassinated former Army chief Gen A.S. Vaidya was performed on Sunday in an emotionally charged atmosphere.

Jinda and Sukha were honored by the panthic organizations by conferring on them the title of Bhai Sukha Singh and Bhai Mehtab Singh. The two had become legends by avenging an attack on the Golden Temple complex in the 18th century by the Mughals. Jinda and Sukha were honored for having avenged the damage one to Akal Takht during Operation Bluestar in 1984.

In the “Ardas” (prayer) of the bhog it was announced that the Sikh panth held “General Vaidya, guilty of having damaged the Akal Takht and that Jinda and Sukha were the “heroes” who avenged the disgrace shown to the Akal Takht by killing Gen Vadiya.

The Sikh Sangat also declared the parents of Jinda and Sukha “Families of the Panth” and decided to look after them and their next of kin.

On behalf of the Panthic Committee (Sohan Singh) and the Khalistan Commando Force (Panjwar) former Jathedar of the Akal Takht. Harcharan Singh Dilli presented two gold medals each to Bhai Gulzar Singh and Bibi Gumam Kaur, parents of Harjinder Singh Jinda. However the parents of Sukha could not reach here. The gold medals for them were presented to Bibi Gumam Kaur who would hand them over to them,

Presenting the gold medals, Dilli conveyed the message of Jinda and Sukha that they wanted the struggle for Khalistan to continue, Dilli raised pro Khalistan slogans.

Dilli announced that the Sikh panth would take revenge on the Chief Minister, Beant Singh and (DGP), K.P.S.Gill. The sangat also decided to continue a series of Akhand paths in memory of Jinda and Sukha till the police and security forces lifted the siege around the temple complex.
