JALANDHAR: Bhai Talwinder Singh Parmar, one of the founders of the Babbar Khalsa International, whose death was announced last week by the Indian police authorities in an encounter near Phillaur, was actually in the custody of the police for some time past and has been climinated in cold blood, according to political circles,
The announcement of Bhai Talwinder Singh’s death was made by Punjab police Chief K.P.S. Gill at the Jalandhar P.A.P. headquarter. The encounter allegedly took place near Kang Arayan village in Bhillaur sub-division. Two Pakistani nationals Habibullah son of Hamidullah and Intikhab Ahmed son of Maqbool Ahmed were killed during the encounter, according to Gill,
The district police chief Satish Kumar Sharma who was present on the occasion said that Parmar had entered India through Nepal in June this year along with Raghbir Singh of Saloh village of Nawanshahar tehsil, He was a Canadian citizen who had come here to reorganize the Babbar Khalsa International. He was seen at several places in Punjab, Haryana, Srinagar, Delhi, Bombay and Madras, The police officers also claimed that Talwinder Singh had a hand in the killings of several Nirankar is including the brother of Nirankari Niranjan Singh.
From the details of Bhai Talwinder Singh’s stay in India in the past four months given by the Punjab police officers it is indicated that he had been in the custody of the police for quite some time. All the details appear to have been obtained from the Babbar leader in the course of the interrogation.
It is well known that the Indian authorities stage such shows every now and then to project their image with Hindus as doing a great service to the country by killing Sikhs. Such a show in Jalandhar district was called following the killing of former Punjab minis~ ter and Congress (I) leader, Darshan Singh Kaypee’s by the militants. The Panthic Committee associated with Dr.Sohan Singh and Bhai Daljit Singh owned the killing.
The Kaypee killing sent two messages: one, the militants are down but not out and second, they had been selective in their targets and had spared the lives of two grandsons and other family members of Kaypee who were travelling together when the attack on the former minister came.
The incident had evidently de moralized the Punjab police and its mercenary chief who wanted to regenerate confidence among the force by killing a senior Babbar Khalsa International leader.
