The World Sikh Organization strongly condemns the execution of Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha, who were hanged to death on October 8, 1992 in India, In this day and age when the world is abolishing death penalty; India seems to be showing its repressive attitude by hanging freedom fighters. The information released through the censored media in India accused these two Sikhs of assassinating the returned Army Chief Vaidya. Sources close to the alleged accused confirm that this was a politically motivated decision by the Indian Supreme Court. The independence of judiciary in India has been questioned by many including Chief Justice of India. In fact courts are known to favor the government version of events without due regard to the process of a fair trial.
The execution of Sikh freedom fighters has re-confirmed our belief that the Sikhs cannot expect fairness in India, The Indian government must clearly understand that such executions can not silence the call for independence by many minorities, including Sikhs. Indian leadership must be blind that it cannot see the changes taking place around the world, Wake up India! You cannot stay together forever, Negotiating sovereignty of various nations constituting India may show Statesmanship on the part of the Indian leadership.
We pay homage to these brave Sikhs who laid their lives for the independence struggle of Khalistan.
