JALANDHAR (PTI): On Sept.21, Punjab police chief K.P.S. Gill’s has asked Federal Indian Government not to reduce the level of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the state till the last militant is killed.

The CRPF had done a commendable job in assisting the Punjab police in curbing militancy, the director general of Punjab police said while addressing a meeting attended by senior police officials.

Referring to the role of army, Gill said it was actively involved in antiterrorist operations, especially in border areas.

Gill said 49 hardcore and 250 non hardcore militants were still at large, He claimed a majority of the hardcore militants had escaped to neighboring states.

He said there were some reports that ISI of Pakistan was trying to regroup the militants in a bid to continue its anti-India campaign.
