Toronto: A radio interview of Beant Singh chief minister of Punjab and his police chief KPS Gill scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 15 was aborted under strong opposition from the IHRO and prominent Sikh leaders in Canada.
For some time now, the Punjab Chief Minister and the Indian movement have been trying to justify to the Sikhs abroad their actions in Punjab. The killing of thousands of innocent Sikhs and the unleashing of police killer squads all over the country have Caused great resentment in the international Sikh community. To appease the Canadian Sikhs a “Government of India’ sponsored program on Radio “Gaunda Punjab” was announced for last Sunday. However, the Sikh community here protested strongly against this since they felt such a propaganda item would only further anger the Sikh community in this area and they forced the Beant / Gill talk show to be aborted.
