CHANDIGARAH: The Chandigarh Administration has asked both the Central Reserve Police Force and the Punjab Police deployed for the security of VVIPs to remove their tents from green belt areas in the city.
This followed directions by Baleshwar Rai, Advisor to the Administrator of the Union Territory, to the Deputy Commissioner, Chattar Singh, and the Senior Superintendent of Police Sumedh ‘Singh Saini, to take up the matter of the nuisance being created due to pitching of tents on green areas in the city with the senior authorities of Punjab Police and CRPF.
Talking to ENS, the Advisor said “The Administration cannot allow pitching of tents on green belts by police and CRPF jawans in the name security of VVIPs while creating nuisance for other residents.”
“I have instructed both the Deputy Commissioner and the SSP to take up the matter for removal of tents from areas meant for maintaining green belts.” Anybody who requires security shall have to provide place for the stay of police and CRPF jawans within his residential premises, he said.
