CHANDIGARH: The Akali Dal (Mann) president, Simranjit Singh Mann, has described the proposed visit of the Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao, to Punjab next month to make some announcements regarding the long pending demands as diversionary lactic.
Ina statement issued by his party office on his behalf on Sept.17, he said the effort was to divert the attention of the people from police repression. He said neither the Prime Minister nor the Chief Minister, Beant Singh, was in a position to give anything to Punjab.
He made it clear that nothing less than sovereign and independent Sikh state would be acceptable.
The party has appealed to the leaders of the six Panthic organizations to participate in the conference being organized at Guru Ki Dhab village in Faridkot district on Friday.
