CHANDIGARH: While the U.S. administration has nearly underwritten Punjab’s continuous control by India, the latter used the troubled states 10,000 tons of wheat for supply to Cuba defying Washington’s criticism on that count, Five tains laden with 1 lakh quintals of wheat were formally flagged off by C.P.(M) general secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet from Barnala and Khanna to Haldia port where the commodity would be transferred to Cubans ships. These ships are scheduled to move from Haldia on October 1, according to Surjeet. Present at the function were the ruling Congress (I) party’s general secretaries N.K.Singh and M.A .Baby.
