The town people observed a complete strike. Angry demonstrators, including a large number of women, raised slogans against the Tam Taran police chief Ajit Singh Sandhu and Jandiala Guru,
The demonstrators alleged that the Tarn Taran police had raided the residences of three. persons, here, just after midnight and severely beaten up the men and women, The raiding party members had used offensive language against these women, dragged and pushed them into police triicks and detained them at Sadar police station Tam Taran. Besides, no lady police member had accompanied the raiding party.
The demonstrators charged that instead of entering the houses through the main entrance, the policemen climbed the ladders to Jump into the houses and smashed the doors, grills and window panes. The residents were terrorized,
J you, the 16yearold daughter of Pal Singh Pali said that at about 12:10 a.m. on Friday, over a dozen policemen entered their house located on the first floor by us in ladder, Since their father was not at home, her mother Padma Rani whose delivery was due any time, informed the police party that her husband was not at home. But the determined police personnel un screwed a grill of a bathroom and jumped in. Thereafter, they broke open its wooden door to enter the living area of the house.
