AURORA (IL): The Association of Sikh Professionals is pleased to announce the award of six new scholarships to deserving Sikh students. These awards were made on the basis of request for aid by the students, and were evaluated by the Scholarship Committee of the Association,
The Association is also pleased to announce the establishment of a scholarship in memory of the late Bhai Harbans Singh Akali, Bhai Harbans Singh Akali was the Manager of Electrical Services at the Bhilai Steel Plant in India, He was one of the founders of the Sikh Gurdwara as well as Sikh Schools at Bhilai. After retirement in 1973 he came to Chandigarh and then moved to Canada to be with his family. He passed away in 1979 at the age of 64, This scholarship was made possible by a grant from his son Dr, Harinderjit Singh of Augusta, GA. We wish to thank him for his generous gesture in trying to help our Sikh Youngsters in this country. The recipients of the Award this year were Bikram Singh and Guruhans Singh Kroesen.
The full list of recipients of the awards this year is as follows:
a) Bikram Singh of Lombard, IL Bikram has completed his undergraduate studies and has been accepted into Medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Starting in Sept.1992.
b) Guruhans Singh Kroesen Guruhans is enrolled as a Senior at the New Mexico Military Institute at Roswell, New Mexico. He intends to go into further studies in Computer Science,
c) Sandeep Singh from New York He has completed two years at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and will in his 3ri studies at the same school in Sept. of 1992.
d) Harman deep Singh Makar
Makar has completed two years at Washington School of Medicine at the Washington University Medical Center in St Louis, MS. He is not entering his 3rd year at the same school. C
e) Gurdeep Singh Other of Lake Zurich, IL Other was accepted into the accelerated program at Youngstown State University in Ohio. He has completed the first two years of the accelerated program there and has now been admitted to the first year at the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine.
f) Sewak Singh Kroesen has joined the Western States Chiropractic College at Portland, Oregon and is in his First Year there. He is originally from Independence Missour.
The association wishes to publicly thank all those individuals who donated funds to help in this effort. They include Teji and Manjit Grewal (VA), Dr. Kukreja (KY), Dr.-T. Anand (CA), Dr.G.S.Kanwal (Coebum VA), MaBoli Systems (Ohio) and Dr. Gurdit Singh (Calgary). Our attempt’s to support as many Sikh youngsters as possible. Applications are reviewed by a committee appointed by the Association so that selection is made on an impartial basis,

The organization welcomes any contribution to this effort. All donations are tax-exempt and will be used exclusively for the support of students. Donations may be sent to The Treasurer, Scholarship Fund of ASP, 22 Winthrop New Rd., Prestbury, and Aurora, Illinois 60506-3136.
