NEW DELHI (PTI); The names of 20 members of Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) have been finalized for inclusion in the 30-member Joint Parhamentary Committee (PC) being constituted to probe the multimillion securities scam
It includes to from Congress-l, one each of allies All India and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Telugu Desam.
The remaining eight include opposition heavyweights—George Fernandes and Rabi Ray (Janata Dal), Jaswant Singh (Bharatiya Janata Party), K.P. Unnikrishn an (Cong-S) and Somnath Chatterjee (Communist Party of India Marxist),
Those from the ruling party include Ram Niwas Mirdha, Murli Deora, Manishankar Aiyer, Kamal chaudhury and P.C.Chacko.
The chairman of the JPC will be nominated by the speaker after the 10 names are finalized by the Rajya Sabha.
The JPC will go into the irregularities and fraudulent Manipulations in all its aspects and ramifications in transactions relating to securities, shares, bonds and other financial instruments and the role of the banks, stock exchanges, financial institutions and public sector undertakings in the transactions. :
The JPC will also be requested to make recommendations for failures. The members of the Lok Sabha on the JPC are Mani Shankar Aiyar-Congress, Basava Rajeswari-Congress, Vijaya Kumar Raju BhupathirajuTDP(V), P.C. Chacko Congress, Somnath Chatterjee-CPI(M), Kamal Chaudhary Congress, Murli Deora-Congress, George FernandesJD, Jaswant Singh BJP, Ram Niwas Mirdha Congress, Ram Naik BJP, P.G. Narayanan AIADMK, Debi Prosad PalCongress, Sriballav Panigrahi Congress, Shravan Kumar Patel Congress, Harin Pathak BJP, Rabi Ray JD, P.M. Sayeed Congress, K.P ,Unnikrishnan Congress (S) and Sushil Chandra Varma BJP.
