COLOMBO: ;Sri Lanka August 6 denied having received any offers from the LTTE for settlement of the vexed ethnic crisis in northeastern Lanka or having any negotiations with the Tamil militant group in this regard, reports PTI.
The cabinet spokesman and industries minister, Ranil Wichremasinghe, told reporters at the weekly briefing here that any such offers would go to the parliament select committee headed by an opposition member of parliament which is going into the issue.
I am not aware of any offers received either by the government or by the select committee,” he said.
The parliament committee is headed by Mangala Moon singe of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) constituted almost a year ago. The committee has held several sittings seeking representations from various political parties.
