NEW DELHI: An Indian Airlines employee who allegedly provided shelter to Punjab militants was caught outside his house in the Indian Airlines colony Vasant Vihar recently, Amar Singh Dhanoa aged around 40 and working as a tractor operator at the airport, has been sent to judicial custody. The Punjab police have been informed. Dhanoa had been with the airlines for a long time, said the additional commissioner (intelligence), R.S. Sahaye. Absent from work since June 22, he was finally nabbed recently. Dhanoa has allegedly confessed to providing shelter to Ranjit Singh alias Happy “Lt general” of the “Bhindranwale Tiger Force of Khalistan. “Happy”. who is believed to be searching for hideouts to strike in the city, is said to have last visited him on July 6.

Happy is said to have more than 30 cases of murder and extortion against him. The police’s special cell had been tipped off about the possibility of major strikes in the city and had information that Punjab militants were being provided shelter in the city.

Sahaye said Dhanoa has reportedly confessed that his home in Ghara on village, on the outskirts of Chandigarh, was also used as a hideout by militants. They are even said to have constructed a bunker there.
