Dear Editor,

I have watched for a year as ‘this Paper has skewered Dr.Pashaura Singh again and again, as have much of the Sikh community. I used t0 get angry, now Tam just saddened by the our self-destructive live behavior My point is, please don’t diminish the standards ‘of Scholarship just because you have an emotional attachment to the religion, Academics and religion are separate.

The case against Dr.Sahibis baseless. Any disagreements you may have with him are aceeptable, but the charges of blasphemy, of conspiracy and all the other charges are ludicrous, Just talk to the gentleman for two hours, Took at his children and nobody can make these charges with a straight face (except those with motives of their own), This man’s family is model Sikh family. How many people at tacking him can make that claim,

You pseudo scholars could have at least waited for the Akal Takhat to come down with a decision. Instead, you have become judge, jury and executioners. It is clear that Sikh justice is not blind, just stupid. If you are not rich, don’t have political ties (particularly in Amritsar) or are not willing to cut down everyone in your path, you have no voice in the Sikh justice system. Dr, Pashaura Singh is good, decent, hardworking, honest Sikh and you scholar/politicians are bent on destroying him. Well, you have my views, Do what you want with them. Burn them, use them to make paper air planes, I really don’t care anymore. Young guys can have the Sikh establishment. Most of my peers don’t want anything to do with it, we who have grown up in the West have’ watched you people make a mockery of the great treasures left to us by the Gurus, We will chart our own course, without you.
