MISSISSAUGA: Northern Telecom Ltd., one of Canada’s leading hi-tech companies, will slash 2,000 jobs in Canada after declaring the worst quarterly losses in the history of the Canadian corporation Northern Telecom provides jobs to 22,000 people in the country. The job cuts will take place in the next 18 months. Jean Monty, new chief executive revealed that Northern Telecom has fallen behind “its Competitors in developing new software for the telephone switching equipment including new features like, call forwarding and call waiting. AT&T is the major competitor of Norther Telecom in the USA.
