CHICAGO: The Sikh Religious society of Chicago sponsored Sikh Americans of the greater Chicago area participation in the 4th of July parade celebrating America’s 217th birthday. The parade was held in Palatine, Illinois. The Sikh float was decorated at Palatine Gurdwara compound by enthusiastic volunteers.

‘The parade was organized by the Jaycees of Palatine, and had the theme “Summer American style.” Nearly 100 Sikhs marched along with the Sikh float which was decorated with “Nishan Sahib” and American flags, the participating distributing candies and U.S, flags to children.

The parade ended at Palatine Community Park where the participants were treated with refreshments. This has been an annual event for S.R.S, for several years and has provided a favorable exposure to the Sikh community provided by: R.S.Mago.
