CHANDIGARH (PTI):Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal chief of Bhindranwale Tigers: Force and one of the most wanted militants managed to hoodwink police dragnet in the Tam Taran district in northern Indian state of Punjab, August 5 as one of his associates was killed in exchange of fire.

Elsewhere in the state, six militants, one of them a Lt Gen was killed and security forces managed to rescue one kidnapped person in separate incidents.

Police identified the slain militant as self styled Lt Gen of Bhindranwale Tigers Force of Khalistan (BTFK) wanted by security forces inabout500 incidents, of killings and other related crimes, Tam Taran police chief, Ajit Singh Sandhu said.

Security forces arrested eight militants in Amritsar, Sangrur, Ludhiana and Bathinda districts.
