CHANDIGARH (PTI):A communist party of India (CPI) leader, his son and three militants were killed in separate incidents in the state of Punjab since July 27. CPI leader Pakhar Singh, who was also the sarpanch of Gauna Chour village, and his son were gunned down at their house in the village in Jalandhar district, Two others were injured in the firing, the police said.
Militant Darshan Singh, who was under custody, was killed in cross firing after a group of militants ambushed a security vehicle near said Mubarak village in Batala district. One of the attackers was also killed in the incident. One 32 bore revolver, two detonators, two pocket chargers and were recovered from the scene.
