WASHINGTON; D;S ,Gill  chairman of the International Human Rights Organization has been invited by the Congressional Human Rights Caucus to give a briefing on the Punjab situation to the members of the U.S. Congress and their staff members, Congressmen Torricelli and Dan Burton had also sent an invitation to D.S.Gill to visit Washington to apprise them of the human rights situation in India. This event is being organized by the Caucus which is a Human Rights Comm. of the U.S. Congress and is headed by Congressman Lantos of California and Congressman Porter of Illinois.

While talking to W.S.N.,D.S.Gill ‘said, “Our organization is committed to expose the tyrannical policies used against minorities by the present regime in India and we want to show to the international community how people of Punjab and Kashmir are suffering under the terror of the security forces. We also want to appeal to the world community to raise its voice against these injustices,” D.S.Gill has been active in the) human rights field since 1985, He “was the general secretary of the Punjab Human Rights Organization PHRO and later became the chairman, Recently the PHRO, based in Ludhiana changed its name to the International Human Rights Organization because of its expanding structure and’ activities in Europe and North — America, a“ The briefing  on Punjab is scheduled for august 3 ,1992 at the

Rayburn House office building from 11-12:30 p.m. IHRO, erstwhile PHRO, has sent extensive investigative reports on the human rights violations occurring in Punjab and Kashmir. Recently it published a report on Kashmir “India dishonors Kashmir’ in cooperation with Justice Farooqi of Kashmir. Esterlita Jones, head of the Asia Division of Amnesty Intl. and Dr. Gulam Nabi   of Kashmir American Council will also be appearing at the briefing.
