NEW DELHI: The National Front alleged recently that Prime Minister Narasimha Rao’s hesitation in initiating action against the Kalyan Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh indicated that the Center was having an understanding with the BJP on the Ayodhya issue.
Though the State Government has shown scant respect for the Constitution the Center was reluctant to take stem action against it” National Front Secretary M. Padmanabham said here.
He said the Center was bound to protect the Constitution and see to it that no individual or party violated it.
The Front Secretary said “We want that the Narasimha Rao Government should immediately take over the disputed area at Ayodhya The step would help stop illegal construction activity there and preserve the disputed structure.”
Padmanabham said that the delay in action by the Center had only encouraged the Vishwa Hindu Parishad which has decided to continue construction work despite court orders.
Padmanabham said the National Front-Left parties coordination committee will hold an emergency session here to discuss the future course of action on the Ayodhya issue
He said that though some parties have demanded imposition of President’s rule “we feel that the Center has many options before it has to stop the construction work.”
Meanwhile convenor of Babri Action Committee Zafaryab suppressed his dissatisfaction over the outcome of the National Integration Council meeting held in Delhi.
