NEW DELHI: The Babri Masjid Movement Coordination Committee (BMMCC) has expressed concern over the demand by “sant sammelan™ at Hardwar that the disputed site in Ayodhya be handed over by Vijaydashami for construction of Ram temple.
In a statement, committee convener Sayed Shahabuddin alleged that the sammelan was “or chest rated by the leader sat large of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad” and also drew the attention of the Government to the Sangh Parivar’s “threat to open new fronts” in Mathura and Varanasi.
Shahbuddin said the sants and VHP were aware that Ayodhya site has been acquired by the Government, and the acquisition was under legal challenge.
“Even if the Government wishes it cannot fulfill their demand without violating the law and the VHP. also knows that the Mathura Idgah and the Varanasi Masjid are protected by the act of 1991,” he said.
The BMMCC also appealed to secular parties to make the Government aware that they would not “silently witness yet another rape of the Constitution” but mobilize against it.
