Sir,
P.V. Narsimhan rao Prime Minister of Indian government, said recently in New Delhi that “our conscience is clear, our hands are clean so far as human rights are concerned” (The Globe and Mail, July 1.1992), As it is perceived, the New Delhi administration whether it was of Nehru, Lal Bahadar Shashtry, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, V.P.Singh, Chander Shekhar or Narsimhan rao, is notorious for its lies, fabricating news exchanges under the direction of the Research and Analysis Wing and several intelligence agencies of India and imposing rigid censorship on the state-run news media, It should be noted that it was none other than Narsimhanrao who said that human rights are his country’s internal matter. During the Commonwealth countries’ conference in 1991, it was Narsimhanrao who opposed the Right Honorable Brian Mulroney’s (Prime Minister of Canada) proposal to link foreign aid programs with human rights violations. In his composition entitled “main han dharat Punjab di translated I am the land of Punjab),” Dr H.S, Shergill (1992) states that hardly any family was spared in Punjab from human infringement or violation. Mothers, sisters and brothers will never see their dear ones again who have been taken to the so-called interrogation centers, more popularly known as the “butcher houses” of Punjab, Kashmir, Assam, Bihar and Tamil Nadu. The grounds used to cremate these victims give the false impression of being calm and peaceful, but they are mourning the deaths of the innocent they are demanding an end to these ruthless, brutal slayings, and an end to human rights violations all over India. Even the waters of Punjab’s river and canals and Thelam river in Kashmir are riddled with the blood of the innocent. Still Narsimhanrao, his council of Ministers, paramilitary, military, police and administrative personnel say that their conscience is clear and their hands are clean, What a hypocrisy!
