CHANDIGARH: Fourteen militants, a police constable and a civilian were killed and one militant arrested in Punjab during the past 24 hours.

Two militants, identified as Kamaljit Singh and Baldev Singh, committed suicide by consuming cyanide after being cornered by police near Lalheri village in Khanna police district.

Police shot dead four unidentified militants near Kanakwal village in Mansa district. Two revolvers and two guns along with some ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.

A militant identified as Sukhwinder Singh was shot dead in a police encounter near Daulatpur village in Patiala district. A 455 revolver was recovered from him.

Police shot dead a Babbar Khalsa militant identified as Lakhwinder Singh near Alowal village in Batala police district. A self-loading rifle was recovered on his person,

An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter near Tarkhanwal village in Bhaunda district .A .12 bore guns was recovered from site of encounter.

Two militants, identified as Jaskaran Singh alias Jassa and Harbant Singh alias Banta, who were being escorted by police for recovery of arms were killed when the police party was ambushed near Bagsar village in Faridkot district. A constable Balwant Singh was also injured in the exchange of fire.

Two other militants, identified as Sukhvinder Singh and Sucha Singh, who were being escorted by police for recovery of arms were killed when the police party was ambushed near Chuohakwal village in Majitha police district. Two .12 bore guns were recovered on search of the area.

An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with a police party near Najamin village.
