AMRITSAR: Five senior leaders of the Akali Dal (Badal) have described the current mass contact program by the Punjab Congress (I) as ‘Sarkuri tamasha’ alleging that the program is not for the people, of the people and by the people.

Ina statement here recently, the senior vice president, Parkash Singh Majitha, the general secretary, Manjit Singh Calcutta, the SGPC acting president, Major Singh Uboke, Nirmal Singh Kahlon, a former minister and Onkar Singh Mattenangal  a senior member of the SGPC, said that the people are being huddled to hear his master’s voice’ through Beant Singh and his conhorts.

They said that neither this program would solve the vexed Punjab problem nor would it help in restoring normalcy in the state, The Congress (I) leaders, including the Chief Minister and ‘his ministerial colleagues, have been criticizing the Akali leaders, especially the SGPC chief, Gurcharan Singh Tohra, for their only fault that they had been 6spousing the cause of Punjab and the Sikhs.

They further alleged that the of facial machinery was being misused by the Chief Minister and sainisterial colleagues for contact program.
