Christine Crawley, Euro M.P for Birmingham East will table a resolution in the European Parliament, condemning the Indian excesses in the Punjab and proposing that aid to India be made conditional to respect for human rights and proper use of the economic assistance being provided by the international community.

Speaking at a reception given in her honor by Khalistan Government in Exile recently, she said that she intended to table the resolution, which will also call for international monitoring of human rights in Punjab, Kashmir and other parts of the Indian Union, “very soon.”

Being herself an immigrant from Ireland, she said, she could under Stand that passage of time abroad did not weaken the British Sikhs concern for the wellbeing of their folks back home…and could appreciate the pain they suffered over the sad situation in the Punjab.

She advised Khalistan Government in exile to keep the Euro MPs informed about the day today situation in the Punjab.

Earlier, Prime Minister Gurmej Singh Gill, of Khalistan Government in exile, felicitated her for the interest she had been taking in the problems of the Sikh immigrants and appealed to her to raise the issue of Sikh human rights in the forum of European Parliament.

 He also presented to her a memorandum on the unsympathetic attitude of the British Government towards some of the Sikh immigrants.

The proceedings at the reception Started with prayers for the Sikhs martyred in the current struggle for Khalistan, and for the success of the struggle, after which a local Sikh, Kuldip Singh, gave a talk on the fundamentals of Sikhism.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government in exile, Bhagwant Singh, also addressed the gathering, saying that the Sikhs were a very small nation, being oppressed by India, a regional Superpower. He said that the Sikhs were a peace loving nation and looked towards the peace loving people of the world to raise their voice against the atrocities being committed by India on the Sikhs. He assured the audience that, having won their night of self determination, the Sikhs will work for world peace.
