MARYLAND: The Guru Nanak Foundation of America, Washington Metropolitan area on Feb.21, held .a special  congregation in honors of Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaonke the former Jathedar of Akal Takhat who was killed by the Punjab police in Dec.92. Sikh Sangats from far and near gathered in large numbers to honor the memory of Bhai G.S.Kaonke, An “Akhand path” was held and its conclusion marked by a big ceremony.

The kirtan Jatha of Bhai Jagmohan Singh regaled the audience with devotional hymns from Shree Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Children paid homage by little speeches and Bhai Tarlochan Singh read out a poem in honor of the martyr. Dr.Amarjit Singh, the chief spokesman of the Panthic Committee and executive, Khalistan Affairs Center came from California for the occasion to pay homage to the Sikh martyr. Bhai Narinder Singh of Washington and Bhai Daljit Singh of Keshgarh Sahib were among those who paid glowing tributes to Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaonke.

Volunteers of Sikh Youth of America displayed portraits of martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in the service of the Sikh nation.
