JOHANNESBURG (PTI): Former foreign minister Madhavsinh Solanki Feb.20 told an antiapartheid conference organized by the A.N.C. that the transition of South Africa to a nonracial democracy was not only in the interests of the African continent, but also the entire world. Solanki said India was looking forward to helping South Africa reach its goal of a nonracial and democratic society. “We can explore ways and means of strengthening our solidarity with your organization in a post-apartheid setup by helping build your self-reliance and strengthen your economic defenses.
“T thinks that would be the true path towards a democratic South Africa.
“We would like to see a post-apartheid South Africa assuming its rightful place in the comity of nations, to support peace and developmental efforts worldwide,” he said.
