ISLAMABAD (PTI): Kuwait Feb. 10 hoped India would rebuild the Babri mosque, demolished on December 6, and hand it over to the Muslims in the country.
“We hope that the prime minister, P.V.Narasimha Rao, who had earlier promised to rebuild the structure, will stick to his resolve,” visiting Kuwaiti first deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister Sabah AlAhmed AlSabah told a Press conference The Kuwaiti leader, who is on a tour of 13 countries to apprise them of the renewed Traqi “atrocities” and violation of U.N. resolutions, maintained that the rebuilt Structure at Ayodhya should be placed under Muslim control.
Al Sabha would be leaving for India after the conclusion of his visit to Pakistan.
Replying to a question regarding Kuwait’s stand on the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, he said Kuwait wanted resolution of the Kashmir issue under the 1972 Simla agreement and the relevant United Nations resolutions.
“We believe that the problem cannot be solved through war and best way out was Sitting across the table and holding negotiations,” he added.
To a question about the Indian stand during the gulf war, Al Sabah said that New Delhi maintained an “honorable position” and supported the U.N. resolutions against Iraq.
