MADRAS(PTI): Kapil Dev Feb.12 became the only cricketer in the world with over 400 wickets and a run aggregate of over 5,000 runs when he crossed 35 runs in the second cricket test between India and England here.

Kapil, playing his 122nd test, made his intentions clear to some media persons even before taking strike and he executed to perfection his plan to score run a minute.

He is the fourth Indian to have reached the 5,000run mark, Sunil Gavaskar (10,122), Dilip Vengsarkar (6868) and G.R. Viswanath (6080) being the other three.

Kapil is the second all-rounder in the world to cross the 5,000mark, with England’s lan Botham achieving the feat first.
