CHANDIGARH: Two senior Akali leaders Gurdev Singh Badal of Badal group and Thekadar Surjan Singh of Mann Dal in separate statements have described the anu-Tohra enquiry proposed by Simranjit Singh Mann’s close associates as disruptive of panthic unity and have disassociated themselves from the move.

Gurdey Singh Badal said that certain people used the forum of six panthic organizations on May 31 to suggest that an enquiry committee is being constituted against S.G.P.C. chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra. He said he or his party had nothing to do with the proposed enquiry. Badal expressed his dismay over the fact that the six-member panthic organization had paid no heed to the need to combat anti-Sikh repression; Instead, it is engaged in the disruptive activity by talking of holding an enquiry against Jathedar Tohra. Surjan Singh said no member of the Badal group participated in the meeting of the six-member panthic organizations. As such the meeting was not competent to pass any resolution,

The Babbar Akali Dal, too, has dissociated itself from the alleged resolution passed on: May 31 by the six panthic organization.

The party’s district president Gurdev Singh Batalvi explained that his party had nothing to do with the resolution.
