KHANNA (LUDHIANA): The center is unlikely to announce a Punjab “package” by Baisakhi April 13 according to Chief Minister Beant Singh.

He told newsmen here that there has been no formal meeting between himself and the Haryana chief minister on the issue of package. He ruled out such a meeting in the next few days as he would be preoccupied with the budget session of the assembly.

The chief minister said he would go to Delhi to discuss the issue only after the session and that an economic package for Punjab was also not under consideration as of now.

To make Fatehgarh a district 86 villages of Ludhiana are being transferred. This includes six village’s near Khanna the town of Khamanon and 80 villages near it. In return two villages of Galwadi and Badinpur are being merged from Patiala to Ludhiana district. He emphatically stated that Khanna sub-division would continue to be part of Ludhiana.
