AMRITSAR: The vice president of the BIP Dr. Baldev Parkash has charged the Beant Singh government with its inefficiency and failure to establish peace and tranquility in Punjab and said killings of innocents had increased fourfold since it took over.

He was addressing a saheedi devis held at Khanna Samark here on Sunday to commemorate the memory of those BJP leaders and workers killed by militants in the past four years.

He stressed the government to take stringent measures to halt the increasing trend of killings of innocents by militants as it was the responsibility of the government to establish peace.

Paying glowing tributes to those killed Dr. Parkash emphatically stated that BJP will not tolerate formation of Khalistan under any circumstances.

Touching on the Ayodhya controversy he expressed regret that no one raised a hue and cry when Hindu temples were being demolished in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country. No one raised a finger in parliament when a large number of Hindus and Sikhs were thrown out from the state

He said the spirit of nationalism was diminishing from the minds of Indians because of negative activities of secularists.

The BJP he pointed out was determined to cement national forces in India to revive its ol traditions culture and historical monuments

He severely critised Akali leaders characterizing them as “cowards” who lacked guts to meet the challenge of militants He urged them to follow the teaching of Guru Gobind who all his life fought against oppression and tyranny and provided protection to the weak.

Prof. Laxmi Kanta Chawla MLA Mr. Satpal Mahajan president of the BJP Amritsar and Mr. Tejpaul Prabhakar president Punjab Freedom Fighters Welfare Association also spoke and urged the Punjab government to take action against activities of militants and leave no stone unturned to stop killings of innocents.
