Mohali: Several district level leaders of the Ropar district unit of the C.P (M) resigned from the primary membership for the party to join the Marxist Forum headed by Jagjit Singh Dyalpuri. These leaders include Shamsher Singh member Ropar-Kharar area Balwinder Singh vice-president of Janwadi Naujwan Sabha Kharar Ajaib Singh Sail secretary C.P (M) Paraul and many others.
In a statement these leaders charged the leadership with ambiguity on the “nationality question.” They said the party had become a “tail” of the Congress (I)’s strategy of centralization which had nothing to do with the demand for autonomy. On the Punjab question the party had become a protagonist of central rule in the state and had been speaking the language of the Congress (l).
The rebellion leaders took Harkishon Singh Surjeet to task for trying to resolve the Punjab problem with the help of the Congress (I) whereas the problem itself had been created by the Congress (I) itself for its own narrow political aims They called upon Marxist intellectuals to come forward in favor of autonomy to states and to resolve the nationality question.
