ISLAMABAD (PTI): Pakistan is not considering banning the JKLF but is “trying to do its duty” by preventing the Kashmiri militant organization from crossing the line of control (LOC) into India Monday. A highly placed foreign ministry official said Sunday.

Talking to groups of newsmen here the official said Islamabad is trying to take all sort of measures to avoid any sort of repeat of what happened on February 11 and 12 last” near chinar close to the LOC. In Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK). “It is not an easy decision to take to stop the JKLF” the officials said.

Press reports here earlier this week quoting Pakistan foreign office sources had said that Islamabad was contemplating harsh measures against those persons. Bodies and organization which advocated the so-called third option of independent” and even banning of JKLP was not ruled out.

Asked if there was any contra diction in the policy of the Pakistan Government regarding the “third option” as campaigned for by the JKLF chief Amanullah Khan currently under detention the official said the premier Nawaz Sharif was quoted out context recently on this issue.

“Islamabad stands by the UN. Resolutions on Kashmir and those only talk about accession to India or Pakistan after a right of self-determination is given to the Kashmir people” the official added.
