JALANDHAR (PTD): Beant Singh the Chief Minister of North Indian state of Punjab charged the Akalison March 29 leaders of being dishonest to the philosophy of Guru Gobind Singh who made sacrifices for protecting the weak. The defenseless and the exploited.

He also reiterated his appeal to militants to give up arms on the holy occasion of Baisakhi and celebrate the day when the Khalsa was born in the true spirit.

Beant Singh was speaking at Shaheed Parivar fund function organized by Hind Samachar group of newspapers. Where he earlier distributed financial help of Rs. 5.60 Lakh to 56 militant victim families in the shape of unit trust of India certificates. Beant also declared that the government would not fail in its duty of providing security to the lives and properties of all Punjabis. He contested the claim of some persons that Akalis were taking such stands out of fear of militants. “How could they be Sikhs? If they are taking certain stands out of fear” be remarked.
