In spite of the fact that Sikhs have been residing in Canada for almost a hundred years there is little understanding of our community. Recently, there is an ever increasing interest in the multicultural aspects of our nation, due to an increase in numbers of Sikh immigrants because of more relaxed immigration laws. The Canadian Police College is making a concerted effort not only to increase the number of recruits from visible ethnic minorities, but also to bring greater cultural understanding to the people already involved in police work.

The local Gurdwara in Ottawa has recently hosted a tour for the Multicultural Education Trainers Course of the Canadian Police College. An excellent presentation on Sikh religion and culture was also given. The Police College has requested that we repeat this presentation to each new group that comes to Ottawa every six months. In anticipation of repeat performance in October,

We are polishing up our presentation an putting it down on paper to be used again and again, Should anyone wish a copy for use within their own local community, please send your request to Head Office of World Sikh Organization in Ottawa.
