AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Kabul) has urged upon the Election Commission to recon duct elections in the state after declaring the February 19 elections to the state assembly and Parliamentary as null and void
A meeting of the district Akali Dal (K) held here on Monday demanded resignation of the ministry led by Beant Singh who, it alleged, came into power by adopting “illegal and undemocratic methods.”
Press Singh, president of the Akali Jatha, said the party would file a suit in the Punjab and Haryana high court challenging the validity of the elections as they had collected many evidences of mal practices done by the Congress I men to win the election,
In another resolution, the meeting strongly condemned the government decision to withdraw security of the candidates of recognized parties who contested the elections but were affected.
The meeting justified the decision of the party high command to contest the elections in the state The Punjab Subordinate Services Federation has demanded complete exemption of all the state government employees working semi-government and Central Government departments from income tax and grant of disturbed area allowance on the pattern of Misaran.
The executive committee of the federation, in resolution, termed the Union Government budget for the next year as “anti-employees and pro-rich, Ranbir Dhillon, chairman of the federation, said the raising of income tax s.28, 000 was a joke-on the employees
Dhillon said the employees would observe March 9, a8 anti employees day and hold mass allies all over the state and organize conventions in support of their demands,
In another resolution, the federation urged the Central at Government to give special grant 10 the Punjab Government for the employees as they were working in the most trying of times.
The federation demanded withdrawal of show because notices served as the employees who had boycotted the election duties due to failure of the government to provide security to them, after incidents of Killing at Jagraon, Moga and Barnala.
