RAUNI_(LUDHIANA):The Punjab Chief Minister, Beant Singh, Tuesday called upon the Akalis to give up the path of confrontation and help in the development of the state.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the bhog ceremony of Sarpanch Nahar Singh who was shot dead by militants last year, Beant Singh urged Sikh youths to give up the AK-47 rifle, stop killing innocent persons and join the national mainstream.
The Chief Minister asserted that his government did not want any confrontation with anyone but made it clear that it would not bow to the Akalis if they persisted with their policy of confrontation, the government would deal with the situation firmly.
Beant Singh said he would work as a “Sewadars” of the people and regretted that the stat was passing through a difficult period. The cooperation of the people was needed to overcome these difficulties, he said.
Condemning the killing of innocent persons, Beant Singh said no Guru had condoned such killings. Gura Gobind Singhs father and his four sons aid down their lives for the sake of humanity and to protect the oppressed.
