SOMEWHERE IN THE WESTERN SECTOR: India is exploring possibilities of drawning on Israeli expertise in conducting the militant operations the Defence Minister Mr Sharad Pawar indicated on Friday,
Talking to newsmen on board the special IAF aircraft on his first visit ta major Air Force forward base Mr Sharad Pawar said the formal establishment of full diplomatic ties between India and Israel had paved the way for “drawing on Israel’s successful experience to curb militancy.”
He said such an exchange would be of mutual advantage to the countries adding that India would also like to get acquainted with Israeli experience in developing technology for anti-militant operations.
The defence minister vouched on all aspects of Indias defence and F said he would be visiting the United States in the last week of April to give a further fillip to developing tall round ties between the two countries.
The services to services ties developing between the United States and Indian armed forces are likely to be given a concrete shape during Mr Pawars visit which would be followed by visits of the Chi of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal N.C. suri and Naval Chief Admiral Ranidas.
Asked what the direction of the Indo-US defence ties would be the defence minister said this would be finalised by the cabinet committee on political affairs soon.
One his visit, he mercly said he would brief the American leader’s bout the geo-political situation in the Indian sub-continent.
On ties with China, Mr Pawar sounded a positive note by saying that the two countries were moving in the right direction to settle all their differences.
