SANGRUR: In the after moon of Feb.25 Tuesday two unidentified young Sikh men came to S.Gurbachan Singh Gahels house in village Gahelar in Sangrur strict near Bhivani Gath and asked him two accompany them.
S.Gubachan Singh Gahal was a former Akali Jathedar of district Sargrust and was father of Bhai Mahesh Inder Singh Gahel. Bhai Mabeshinder Singh Gahel is very well known militant who press secretary of Sikh Students Federation was for the year 1990-91. Bhai Maheshinder Singh was a close associate of Bhai Charanjit Singh Channi (Shaheed) Bhai Jamail Singh Halwala (Shaheed) and wanted in Longowal murder case.
Due to activities of his son Jethadar Gurbachan Singh Gabel was arrested numerous times tortured and sent to prison many times altogether for 3 years.
On this fateful day these two unidentified Sikh young men asked Jathadar Gurbachan Singh Gahel to accompany them to meet their leader Bhai Sarabjit Singh Patli (Lt. General KCF) on reaching the outskirts of the village these alleged militants were joined by their accomplices and then shot dead Jethadar on the spot.
After committing their crime these alleged gunmen went to another village and shot dead 3 Sikh brothers for some unexplained reasons.
According to the police due to letter on the letter pad of KCF found near Jethadars body Panthek Committee (Dr. Sohan Singh) took the responsibility of Jathedars murder. Reason for the murder according to the police in that Bhai Maheshider Sikh has immigrated to some foreign country to seek asylum and his father was punished for hat. Police officials also speculated that this could be due to integrant rivalry.
