CHANDIGARH: The Akali Dal (Mann) president Simranjit Singh Mann and the SGPC president G.S. Tohra on Friday called upon the people to boycott ministers of the “puppet” Congress (I) government in Punjab and show hem black lags when they tour villages.
In a statement released by two party functionaries who met those at the Nidampur special jail they said the poll boycotting Sikh organizations would soon devise a Joint strategy to “topple” the government which had come to being on the basis of only 10% votes.
They appealed to the people to reach Anandpur Sahib on the Hola Mohalla festival on March 13 to attend the joint Panthic gathering which would decide on the antigovernment program.
Mann and Tohra said the Akalis and militants could not put pressure on the weaker sections. They alleged that the Congress (I) had launched repression against their SSP because it had opposed it in the Punjab elections.
The statement was released by Iqbal Singh Tiwana and S.S.Giani deputy secretaries of the Akali Dal (Mann Leaders of the Movement Against State Repression (MASR) on Fri= day demanded that the reports of Killing of dalt s by militants should be investigated in the light of the disclosure made by the BSP leaders about the involvement of Congress (I) men in the killings.
The MASR leaders said in a statement that according to the Punjab BSP general secretary Om Parkash Siddiqi some Congress (I) leaders were involved in the killing of BSP campaigners near Nakodar on February 16.
They alleged that the governor was indulging in “vigilante” activities and deliberately disaffection between castes and communities.
