BOMBAY (PTI): Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has granted registration to 39 Foreign Financial Institutions (FFI), including eight last week, to operate in the country against 90 applications received so far.

The Reserve Bank of India has granted them general permission under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA), a SEBI release said here June 18.

The eight FFIs are: Van Eck as Societies Corporation, Martin Curie International Inc., Merrill Lynch Developing Capital Markets Fund Ine, Credit Lyonnais Pacific Growth Fund, and Chase Manhatuin Trustees Lid as trustees of Goveu Pacific Strategy Fund, CMTL as Pacific Income Fund and Capital International Emerging Markets Funds. The remaining applications were in the various stages of processing for early clearance, the release said.
