CHANDIGARH(PTI): Police in the north Indian Punjab state, are being given a “face lift” to improve policing, according to inspector general border range D.R.Bhatti.
Henceforth, senior police officials of the rank of superintendent and above will sitat various police stations at least for two for three hours daily for speedy and on the Spot redressal of people’s complaints.
‘The new scheme solved by the director general of Punjab police KP.S.Gill will be launched in Amritsar, the city of the Golden Temple, in eight police stations from June 21, Bhatti said at a news conference on June 15.
Inspite of the police claim to have eliminated militancy in the state killings of youth and families having links with former militants continue, In three days from June 1417, security forces killed 13 militants in alleged encounters and arrested six people suspected of harboring militants.
The Punjab police claim that seven top militants are camping in Pakistan, they are Mahal Singh, Wadhawa Singh, Wassan Singh Zaffarwal, Paramjit Singh Panjwar, Pritam Singh Sekhon, Narain Singh Chaura and Dr.Sohan Singh, who is the head of the Panthic Committee.
