CONCORD: Rami Kahlona Sikh man active in his community is seeking election to the five member Concord City Council this November, Kahlon, 27, a graduate of Clayton Valley High and the University of California, is a Registered Professional Engineer and employed by the California Public utilities Commission (PUC), He has been active in Concord civic affairs for many years now, In 1989, he was the leader of a successful referendum against a controversial development project, Latter in 1991, Kahlon ran for the Contra Costa Water District board, and received 47% of the vote, With the recognition he received during the water board race, Kahlon is considered the frontrunner among the challengers. “I intend to run a grass roots campaign working for the PUC,” says Kahlon, adding “Concord deserves better than the present three incumbents.” Kahlon is the son of the late Rajinder S.Kahlon, Like his father, Kahlon is a strong supporter of the Sikh nation. Al a recent meeting of prominent Sikh personalities of Stockton and neigh boring areas, Dr.Gurinder Singh Grewal, Chief editor of World Sikh News said, “It is important for us to help our youth. I’ve known Rami for many years and he deserves our support,”
