BOMBAY: A Shivsena worker was killed and three others were injured one seriously in a bomb blast near their party office at Mulund a North-East suburb Monday.
The explosive device went off when Sanjay Pednedar was trying to examine an unclaimed air bag killing him instantly and injuring three other Shivsena workers who were standing close by. Police immediately rushed to the spot and sealed off the entire area which is in close proximity to the suburban railway station.
This is the second blast in two years’ time in the office of Shivsena an ultra-right is top position party.
The condition of the one seriously injured was improving while the other two were discharged after first aid police said.
As the news of the blast spread activities in the area came to a halt with shops and commercial establishments downing their shutters in protest against the incident.
The joint police commissioner R D Tyagi said police could not immediately hazard a guess about the motive behind the blast which was flow intensity an investigation is on.
In a recent bomb blast in a Kalyan-bound train as many as seven persons lost their lives and 435 others suffered injuries.
Over a dozen explosions have occurred in the fast one and a half years in Bombay and the adjoining thane claiming over 20 lives.
