Dear Sir (in reply to article published in Montreal Gazette)
India would have us believe that 300000 military troops are not able to police a 9 million civilian population “After dark when the security forces retreat inside their barracks militants freely earn the state.”
How utterly incredible. Are we to believe that India has not heard of shift work 300000 troops all work 9 to 5? No one is assigned night duty? It is our contention that it is the police and the military that taking off their uniforms a 5 o’clock become the “militants” How else you can explain their utter freedom to do what they will.
Replace 300000 military troops with 100 U.N observers/peace Keepers. The killings will stop. Everyone will be happy to participate in free democratic elections. Punjab refuses to vote at gunpoint in elections that are rigged and controlled by dictators from Delhi. There is a peaceful solution. It lies with outside intervention. We need the United Nations to step in and do its job. Only then will the bloodshed and misery stop.
