OTTAWA: Canada’s atmospheric environment service show there is 4.5% less ozone above Toronto than the normal level. There is 0.5% less over Montreal and 4.5% less over Winnipeg. But the ozone layer which fillers out solar rays that cause skin cancer and eye damage is still far thinner than it should be over the maintains and the three western provinces. Ozone is an invisible gas that forms a natural layer more than 20 Kilometers above the earth’s surface. Manmade gassed such as chlorofluorocarbons are the major causes of ozone layer’s thinning, CFC’s and other ozone depleting chemicals are being banned in the developing countries.
